      • Analyze budget proosals of the executive branch
      • Make baseline estimates of revenues and expenditures
      • Analzye the impacts of proposed and actual tax policies
      • Conduct evaluation of programs or agencies in connection budget approval and accountability
      • Conduct cost-benefit analyses of both executive and legislative policy proposals

    ​3) ACTION PLANS

    Action to be taken after 2015 GN-PBO Annual Assembly Status as of March 2016
    Use the knowledge acquired in the 2015 GN-PBO Ottawa meeting The knowledge acquired in the 2015 GN-PBO Ottawa meeting was used in the preparation of the audit reports for the various Committees of the Chamber of Deputies helping the Members in their role to manage/supervise and improve accountability in the efficient use of State resources.
    Participation in the GN-PBO Working Group on Budget Analysis  Thanks to the participation in the Working Group on Budget Analysis, we could prepare a guide for the PBOs to analyze the budget. With the support from Mr.Sahir Khan/ Ottawa University, we took into consideration the experience and structure of different countries represented at the Working Group meeting, as well as the design of the US Congressional Budget Office.

    4) MAIN CHALLENGES

    1. The PBO employs only two permanent staff serving 190 MPs requesting information on the Executive spending. More technical and administrative staff would increase the efficiency of the Office.
    2. Due to the upcoming 2016 Congressional and Presidential elections, the MPs coming from the ruling party and are less involved in evaluating the government spending.
