Send Out An Announcement

Use this page to send out an announcement to the GN-PBO community.

  • Please only post announcements that will be of interest to the GN-PBO community.
  • Please read the instructions by expanding the blue box below before clicking on 'Create new post'.
  • Click on 'Subscribe' to receive emails when there are new announcements.

Sending Out An Announcement - Instructions
  1. It is recommended to first write the announcement in a Word document.
  2. Make sure you have everything you need, listed below:
    • Title of the announcement
    • 'Abstract' (normally just the first two sentences of the announcement)
    • Content (this is the actual announcement)
    • Image
  3. Click the 'Create new post' button on top of the list of announcements, below.
  4. In the dialog box that appears, fill out the following fields:
    • Short Name: enter the title of the announcement, but replace any spaces with an underscore ( _ ), so 'Example Announcement' should be written as 'Example_Announcement'.
    • Title: Enter the title of the announcement. Try to keep it short.
    • Template/Layout: Leave this as the default ("ePBO / 1. Page with Sidebar (Default)").
    • Intro Image: Click the empty picture (it will say 'browse'), then click 'Choose File' and choose an image from your computer.
    • Date: Click the calendar button and select a date. It will be set to the current date as default.
    • Featured: Leave unchecked.
    • Abstract: Copy and paste the first two lines from your announcement, or write a short description of the announcement, here. Do not worry about formatting.
    • Content: Copy and paste your announcement here. It should ideally be between 300 and 800 words. Do not worry about formatting.
    • Related Posts: Feel free to select a related announcement from the list, but it is fine to leave this blank.
    • # of Posts in a Row: Leave this set to '1'.
    • Categories: Leave blank.
    • Tags: Feel free to enter some tags, but it is fine to leave this blank.
    • Status: Leave it set to 'Active'.
    • Publishing Status: Leave it set to 'Always Published'.
  5. Click 'Save'. Your announcement will now be live on the 'Announcements' page. All members will receive an email notification within an hour alerting them about the new announcement.

2017 Annual Assembly starts tomorrow!

The 2017 Annual Assembly starts tomorrow at the University of Ottawa. The agenda and other conference details have been uploaded to the 2017 Annual Assembly page.

If you are attending the assembly, please introduce yourself on the 2017 Annual Assembly page in the 'Who's Here' section at the bottom of the page.

We hope everyone has safe travels and settles in to their accommodation, and we look forward to welcoming everyone in person tomorrow at the venue.
